Johnson said: “I would shock if he leaves. He may not the same player we’ve seen in the last six years,
but he’s still Virgil van Dijk. He’s still got personality and the team is not the same without him.”
“I think Virgil has two or three more great seasons left and if he leaves it will be a huge loss for the club. He is still a world-class player and I think it would be a huge shame for Liverpool if he leaves.”
Since moving to Liverpool from Southampton in 2017 has a key player in the team’s defence, making 270 appearances in all competitions, scoring 23 goals and achieving a host of successes.
For the 33-year-old, his contract with Liverpool only runs until 2025 and there is no sign of him extending his contract yet.
